Davis & Cannon, LLP
is a general practice law firm with offices in Sheridan,
Cheyenne, and Gillette, Wyoming. When we say, "We know Wyoming," we
speak through years of collective experience that our lawyers have
in this state. Our lawyers have made a long-term commitment to live
and work here. All of us are here because we have chosen to involve
ourselves in how Wyoming works and grows and because we believe it
is one of the best places to raise our families and practice law. We
stress an efficient and practical problem-solving approach to the
issues clients bring to us. |

Although small by
national standards
with twelve lawyers, Davis & Cannon, LLP is recognized in the region as
having a statewide presence in litigation, administrative law,
policymaking and business. The firm's long commitment to maintaining
two full-service offices 325 miles apart illustrates how important
we believe it is to be able to provide our clients with effective
advice and service anywhere in the state. Our Cheyenne office gives
our clients excellent access to state government agencies and
political issues that affect our clients. Our Sheridan office, the
original firm office, is located in north-central Wyoming, where
there are perennial mineral development, ranching, water and
business issues. Our lawyers enjoy representing in-state clients and
regularly practice in all state and federal courts throughout the
state and before most state and federal agencies. |

Davis & Cannon,
LLP
was established in 1948
when Henry Burgess, the son of a local rancher, completed law school
after returning from World War II as a decorated veteran. The
original practice grew around representing landowners and business
people in a broad range of legal problems. Over the years, the Firm
built a reputation in handling diverse transactions in major
litigation and dealing with state and federal administrative law
issues. The addition of the Cheyenne office in 1992 cemented the
trend of statewide work that had evolved in the firm during the
1970s and 1980s. Since then, we have effectively handled a diverse
range of issues, including:
·
national class action,
·
natural resource,
·
and
water law issues.
Furthermore, we have successfully handled:
·
product liability defense,
·
complex commercial litigation,
·
employment law,
·
administrative law,
·
estate planning and probate,
·
and
transactional matters.
We are regularly
selected as statewide trial counsel for a variety of major
corporations to work on litigation and transactional issues. We also
represent numerous local governments on taxation, land use and
eminent domain issues. |
